America's Tall Ship 'Eagle' - Out At Sea

Post by Patriots » December 24th, 2018, 10:59 pm

America's Tall Ship, the 295-foot three-masted barque ... Coast Guard Cutter Eagle (WIX-327) serves as a training vessel for Coast Guard Academy cadets and candidates from the Officer Candidate School. The primary mission of the Eagle is training that includes learning basic seamanship and navigation skills along with important team-building and leadership skills.

The cutter Eagle is the only active-duty sailing vessel in America's military, and one of only two commissioned sailing vessels, along with the USS Constitution.

Note: The Cutter Eagle was built in 1936 in Hamburg, Germany under the name Horst Wessel and became the property of United States as war reparation from Germany in 1946.
