Fallen Soldier's Memorial Ceremony

A fallen Soldier memorial ceremony was held Feb. 17, 2011 at US Army Reserve Command (USARC) headquarters on Fort McPherson, Ga. Maj. Gen. Jon J. Miller, deputy commanding general, Soldiers, and civilian employees gathered in front of USARC to remember the passing of Cpl. James Chad Young, who was serving as a member 323rd Engineer Company, Spartanburg, SC, when he died in Afghanistan.

Young was killed when his vehicle was attacked by an improvised explosive device Nov. 3, 2010, in Kandahar province. Young, 25, was from Rochester, Ill. At the time of his death, he was serving on his second deployment to Afghanistan. The 323rd is part of the 863rd Engineer Battalion from Darien, Ill., and is a subordinate unit of the 412th Theater Engineer Command of Vicksburg, Miss.
