Hicks is examining El Salvadorans during a medical readiness training exercise. The exercise is part of the Joint Task Force New Horizons Exercise project 'Para los Ninos' which is contributing two new schools and three clinics in areas of San Vicente that were hit by earthquakes. | | 03/26/05 - A shooter launches an F/A-18 Hornet from Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 195 Dambusters from the deck of USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63) following the completion of the joint exercise Foal Eagle, on March 26, 2005. The F/A-18C is an all-weather attack aircraft that can also be used as a fighter. In its fighter mode, the F/A-18 is used primarily as an escort and for fleet air defense. | | 01/14/05 - Lt. Keith Majors and Ensign Don Prince direct the flow of data received from numerous sources inside the Combat Direction Center (CDC) aboard USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63), on March 25, 2005. The operational nerve center of Kitty Hawk, CDC collects and processes data received from a wide variety of sources and disseminates the data to other parts of Kitty Hawk for use in properly employing the various ships in the Kitty Hawk strike group. Currently under way in the 7th Fleet area of responsibility (AOR), Kitty Hawk demonstrates power projection and sea control as the U.S. Navy's only permanently forward-deployed aircraft carrier, operating from Yokosuka, Japan.
