Bernardine "Brownie" Plasters
For many of Americans, World War II is a significant if not distant part of our nation's history, tucked within the pages of school books and illustrated in gritty and dramatic movies, but for Bernardine "Brownie" Plasters, the war is very much a part of her personal past. Brownie, a World War II Army nurse, sat down with staff at the Women in Military Service for America Memorial on November 1, 2011 to share a few stories from her time in uniform in Europe during the Second World War.
