July 11, 2016 - U.S. Marines with India Company, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines conduct Infantry Immersion Training in conjunction with the Canadian Marines involving military operations of urban terrain aboard Camp Pendleton, California during Exercise Rim of the Pacific 16 (RIMPAC 16) ... a multinational maritime exercise that takes place in and around the Hawaiian Islands and southern California.
RIMPAC is the world's largest international maritime exercise, and provides a unique training opportunity that helps participants foster and sustain cooperative relationships that are critical to ensuring the safety of sea lanes and security on the world's oceans.
This year's RIMPAC exercise is the 25th in the series that began in 1971. Twenty-six nations, 45 surface ships, five submarines, more than 200 aircraft and 25,000 personnel will participate. This year's exercise includes units or personnel from Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Denmark, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, People's Republic of China, Peru, the Republic of Korea, the Republic of the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Tonga, the United Kingdom and the United States.
