Perhaps... country as flag
Someone has said
�one man's terrorist
is another's freedom fighter'
and while that may be true...
what of their innocent victims
... where they have taken aim
There's one thing victims do
... they die all the same
leaving someone to bear the pain
They were someone's mother or father
... their sister or their brother
... a lost son or a lost daughter
all those who drank from a bitter cup
... thinking it was peaceful water
Perhaps peace is only a dream
... a wanton dreamer's scheme
Perhaps man was made to war
and has forgotten peace evermore
Perhaps it exists only as a myth
told of in forgotten places...
as a bedtime story of long ago...
to aide the sleep of dreamers... just so...
that they sleep like babes... even when awake
and stare in wide eyed terror when Twin Towers quake
Perhaps it is peace that is so dangerous...
so dangerous that it falsely lulls us...
Perhaps... it may be so... who knows...
perhaps war keeps us on our toes...

About Author... Faye Sizemore makes her home in the beautiful foothills of South Carolina with Grant, the love of her life, as well as three dogs, two cats, two parakeets and four nanny goats. Grant is a Vietnam Veteran having served with the US Marines in 1968-69 and is, of course, Faye's muse. Faye is deeply interested in Veterans' Affairs and Veterans' Causes. She is very proud of Grant and her poetry is an off-shoot of that pride.
