A Few Words of Gratitude country as flag
Let Me...
Speak to you
Listen...
my words are true
as they fall on your ear
You are as one who is held dear
Brave soldier...
cast now in silver
... how the fires still glimmer
in wise eyes that look behind
to clearly see ahead
knowing every sign
I stand protected in your shadow
aware of your honor and bravery
You are my window...
window to the past
and to the future's light
for you preserve what is right
You are... as you are...
a truly shinning star
and when your fine soul
is freed at last...
I know that...
in gold...
it will be cast...

About Author... Faye Sizemore makes her home in the beautiful foothills of South Carolina with Grant, the love of her life, as well as three dogs, two cats, two parakeets and four nanny goats. Grant is a Vietnam Veteran having served with the US Marines in 1968-69 and is, of course, Faye's muse. Faye is deeply interested in Veterans' Affairs and Veterans' Causes. She is very proud of Grant and her poetry is an off-shoot of that pride.
