Consultation in a Parking Lot country as flag
I saw today
a misshapen patch of oil
... black on asphalt gray
left from where a mechanical steed
... parked for awhile... did bleed

Patch looking very much like an ink blot test...
not just a stain on the asphalt among the rest

There was an oblong patch...
frayed at the end...
like an old battle flag
I thought I saw the profile... in one
of a dear fallen friend

There were some
that were just massive back patches
... like craters in a battlefield
... but I saw flowers and a butterfly...
others shaped as eagles in the sky

And then it was time to go in
My VA appointment was about to begin...

About Author... Faye Sizemore makes her home in the beautiful foothills of South Carolina with Grant, the love of her life, as well as three dogs, two cats, two parakeets and four nanny goats. Grant is a Vietnam Veteran having served with the US Marines in 1968-69 and is, of course, Faye's muse. Faye is deeply interested in Veterans' Affairs and Veterans' Causes. She is very proud of Grant and her poetry is an off-shoot of that pride.
