Felled at Normandy country as flag

Far away from the battles' sound... they saluted him and laid him down
He was one who had given all in answer to his countries call
... shot through the heart as he moved forward to do his part
Does anyone remember that he still lies on a foreign shore
Does his last sacrifice even matter anymore...
World War II was long ago... does anyone know of his tale of woe
Do not forget that our debt to him is not paid yet
and all that is due... is that we do not forget...

About Author... Faye Sizemore makes her home in the beautiful foothills of South Carolina with Grant, the love of her life, as well as three dogs, two cats, two parakeets and four nanny goats. Grant is a Vietnam Veteran having served with the US Marines in 1968-69 and is, of course, Faye's muse. Faye is deeply interested in Veterans' Affairs and Veterans' Causes. She is very proud of Grant and her poetry is an off-shoot of that pride.
