Mother Freedom's Beggar Child country as flag
Mother Freedom waited at her desk...
it draped in its red white and blue...
ready to conduct another interview
with a old soldier... returning anew
He had been there many times before
since that old Vietnam War
Across from her... he took a seat
and... soon their eyes did meet
�Mother' he said �We fought and died for you
Here we are home... Mother... where we longed to be
Are you blind... can't you see me
I am here in front of you to ask
... again... what about me
Are you not up to the task
Where do I go from here...
Mother Freedom... so dear
Agent Orange runs through my veins
and that's the very least of my pains
I still hear the battle sounds
They still are firing the rounds...
nightly it seems...
until dawns early gleams
I have served you true... can't you see
now... Mother... what... what about me... �
Mother Freedom... no longer seated... now just stood...
offering her hands... those being covered with blood
and chained... bound by those... who never understood

About Author... Faye Sizemore makes her home in the beautiful foothills of South Carolina with Grant, the love of her life, as well as three dogs, two cats, two parakeets and four nanny goats. Grant is a Vietnam Veteran having served with the US Marines in 1968-69 and is, of course, Faye's muse. Faye is deeply interested in Veterans' Affairs and Veterans' Causes. She is very proud of Grant and her poetry is an off-shoot of that pride.
