Nightmare: PTSD country as flag
A putrid steed
blindly staring
from rotted
eye sockets
with bomb crater
blasts
in her side
where generations
of maggots abide
appears each night
and bids me ride
She stands
in all her bloody glory
over sixteen hands high...
all guts and gore
and upon her flank
is branded �WAR'
I am companion
of this blood soaked beast
every evening
until the sun shows
in the East
My battles were fought
long... long ago
yet each haunted night
is spent with her...
why... oh... why...
must I mount and go...

About Author... Faye Sizemore makes her home in the beautiful foothills of South Carolina with Grant, the love of her life, as well as three dogs, two cats, two parakeets and four nanny goats. Grant is a Vietnam Veteran having served with the US Marines in 1968-69 and is, of course, Faye's muse. Faye is deeply interested in Veterans' Affairs and Veterans' Causes. She is very proud of Grant and her poetry is an off-shoot of that pride.
