Seasoned country as flag
I have seen the wind
in the tallest trees
that stand
blowing with a force
that chases summer
from the land
I have seen the snow
of too many winters
come and go
I have felt the rain
washing away the heat
of summers flame...
have seen young men grow
become good soldiers
and to wars go
... I have heard
their cries...
these young men
with old eyes
May it be the reason
for war is that
it is just a season
Just an interlude
... so very rude
that brings death
upon its wings
If so... there lies hope
in peaceful springs

About Author... Faye Sizemore makes her home in the beautiful foothills of South Carolina with Grant, the love of her life, as well as three dogs, two cats, two parakeets and four nanny goats. Grant is a Vietnam Veteran having served with the US Marines in 1968-69 and is, of course, Faye's muse. Faye is deeply interested in Veterans' Affairs and Veterans' Causes. She is very proud of Grant and her poetry is an off-shoot of that pride.
