Voices country as flag
He was a Vietnam vet living alone
with post traumatic stress
All his friends had up and gone...
not understanding his duress

"In the nighttime silence
I can hear voices there...
just beyond that hedgerow
where the shadows dance"

"Listen... listen..."
He implored
"Can you can hear them too
... calling out cadence..."

"Do you hear them?"
His eyes were wide
�No... no... I can't...'
he would know had I lied

"I don't either... now..."
he replied
"They are always silent
when someone is by my side..."

About Author... Faye Sizemore makes her home in the beautiful foothills of South Carolina with Grant, the love of her life, as well as three dogs, two cats, two parakeets and four nanny goats. Grant is a Vietnam Veteran having served with the US Marines in 1968-69 and is, of course, Faye's muse. Faye is deeply interested in Veterans' Affairs and Veterans' Causes. She is very proud of Grant and her poetry is an off-shoot of that pride.
