nothing
is as cruel
as war.
broken dreams,
hearts,
memories,
families,
and lovers
sobbing
for one another.
dark memorials grow
in the shadow of war,
and coffins are always
filled with tears.
a future has fallen away,
and suddenly disappears.
..................
The lone Eagle soars
within the darkness,
alone,
within the canyons of time.
Freedom is a precious bird
mantled
in white
and gold.
She flies
because the brave have given their lives
to her.
She cries aloud
... in remembrance of them. |
