Christmas Moon country as flag
Under the Christmas moon
children sleep to awake soon
to hold their Christmas
in their hands
These are the ones
... blessed in our lands
There are some who will awake
whose pillow was of rock
and those... they will find
no Christmas sock
Some in our lands
will seek their holiday meal
from others garbage cans
Feed them now before they are spent
... before this Anniversary
of the Christ Child has come and went
Under the Christmas moon
the fighting in the sand
goes on in a distant land
There are those with
weapons in their hands
fighting in the bloody sands
under the Christmas moon
God... let it end soon
Do not let Christmas morning
find their bodies lifeless and spent
God... Let it end before another Anniversary
of the Christ Child's birth
has come and went...

About Author... Faye Sizemore makes her home in the beautiful foothills of South Carolina with Grant, the love of her life, as well as three dogs, two cats, two parakeets and four nanny goats. Grant is a Vietnam Veteran having served with the US Marines in 1968-69 and is, of course, Faye's muse. Faye is deeply interested in Veterans' Affairs and Veterans' Causes. She is very proud of Grant and her poetry is an off-shoot of that pride.
