| | | Just Another Day | |
 | | People
waking up to go to work and off to school. Imams
wail on speakers calling everyone to pray.
Vendors open up their shops and sit upon their
							stools.
Soldiers trudge the dusty streets; it's
							just another day.

 Guards up in the towers
							watching everybody pass.
 Choppers haul the
							wounded out along with KIAs.
 Convoys on the
highway like to keep em rollin' fast.
 Kids in
ConUS miss their dad; it's just another day.

Shopping, cleaning, paying bills, without a moment's
							rest.
Band and sports are after school, tonight
							is PTA.
Race the clock and give it all until
							there's nothing left.
 No mail plane due to
							weather; it's just another day.

 Snipers with
their Barrett's put the cross on everyone.
Reapers circle high above and watch from far away.
Hummers out on street patrol are back, their day is
							done.
 I-cam shows the baby's birth; it's just
							another day.

TV's blare the latest news about
							a road-side blast.
In houses all across the base
							people stop to pray.
 Nervous glances at the
street as every car goes past.
 Commo links are
all shut down; it's just another day.

 Sand
and grit in every bite, it sure don't taste like
							home.
For holidays like Christmas, the cooks go
							all the way.
 Trays are piled with everything,
							then troopers gorge and moan.
 In-laws try to fill
the gap; it's just another day.

 Family groups
meet on the base at least once every week.
 Work
and projects, home and school, keep worries held at
							bay.
DVDs of love and hope reach soldiers
							overseas.
The disk was scratched in transit; it's
							just another day.

 Finally comes the day that
							everything is packed to leave.
 Tired and worn out
soldiers climb the ramp and board the plane.
Loved ones meet, emotions flow, like flash-flood
							swollen streams.
 Sunset paints the western sky;
							it's just another day.
