The crew of the 270-foot U.S. Coast
Guard Cutter Mohawk (WMEC
913) returns to its homeport in Key West, Florida from a 92-day deployment in the U.S. Naval Forces Africa Command (AFRICOM) area
of operations, employed by U.S. Sixth Fleet to defend U.S.,
allied, and partner interests.
Along with regional partners,
AFRICOM conducts military operations to disrupt, degrade and neutralize violent extremist organizations that present a transnational threat.
Operations set conditions for continued partnering to help African partner nations build the capacity they need to secure the region.
