USCG Cutter Polar Star Departs For Antarctica - ODF23
The crew of the United States only heavy icebreaker, the Coast Guard Cutter Polar Star (WAGB 10), prepares the ship for departure from its Seattle homeport along with its leaving the dock and ending with a time lapse glimpse of it sailing to the open Pacific ocean for the crew's annual journey to Antarctica in support of Operation Deep Freeze 23 (ODF23).
ODF23 is a joint military service mission to resupply the United States Antarctic stations of the National Science Foundation, the lead agency for the United States Antarctic Program.
