PATRIOT South 2018 is a
domestic operations disaster response training exercise conducted by
National Guard units working in support of federal, state, and local
emergency management agencies, and first responders on the Combat
Readiness Training Center at Camp Shelby, Mississippi and surrounding
areas during February 2018. More than 500 members of the National Guard,
consisting of Soldiers and Airmen, participate along with local first
responders, emergency management agencies, and relief organizations.
The following training activities were involved.
Security Training Members from
the 154th Security Forces Squadron, Hawaii Air National Guard, along
with member of the Mississippi Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks Special
Response Team conduct security response training during the PATRIOT
South 2018 exercise
CERFP Setup and
Training Georgia Army National Guardsmen from 138th Chemical
Biological Radiological and Nuclear defense Company along with U.S.
Airmen from the Georgia Air National Guard’s 116th Medical Group,
Detachment 1 ... setup and train with volunteers that have simulated
injuries to help hone their response time and real world capabilities in
association with Enhanced Response Force Package (CERFP).
Collapsed Structure Rescue
Mississippi Task Force Urban Search and Rescue Team members from Key
Field, Meridian, Mississippi simulate being rescued from a collapsed
structure.
Rooftop Extraction
South Carolina-Helicopter Aquatic Rescue Team (SC-HART), along with the
South Carolina Army National Guard, with UH-60 Blackhawks and UH-74
Lakota helicopters practice rooftop extractions with simulated victims.
