Landsat 9 Near-Polar, Sun Sync Orbit Launch

September 27, 2021 - A United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket launches from Space Launch Complex-3 at Vandenberg Space Force Base, California with the NASA Launch Program Landsat 9 observatory satellite and placing it into a near-polar, sun-synchronous orbit that continues the 50 year legacy of monitoring Earth’s land and coastal regions.

This launch also marked the historic 2000th launch from the Vandenberg Space Force Base Western Range.
