Hill Air Force Base is home to over
seventy-five F-35A
Lightning II aircraft. The 388th and Reserve 419th are the Air
Force's first combat-capable F-35A units, and fly and maintain the
jet in a Total Force partnership, which capitalizes on the strength
of both components.
The F-35A Lightning II is a
single-seat, single-engined, all-weather stealth multirole fighter.
The fifth-generation combat aircraft is designed to perform
ground-attack and air-superiority missions.
