U.S. Air Force airmen participate in tier one of the Multi Capable Airman
(MCA) Expeditionary Skills Training at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona. The MCA course is designed to train Airmen across several career fields critical warfighting fundamentals such as tactical combat casualty care, identifying improvised explosive devices and heavy arms familiarization.
MCA is derived from the Air Force's Agile
Combat Employment concept to provide a more lean and agile team. It
is a four-week class composed of two phases that give Airmen skills
to execute adaptive-basing in an austere environment. Tier 1 is
essential because it gives Airmen the ability to secure and defend a
location. Tier 2 provides Airmen skills necessary to generate and
maintain aircraft in support of rescue and attack missions.
