Lance Cpl. Liam Hogan, a UH-1Y crew chief, assigned to
Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron One (MAWTS-1),
operates a GAU-21 .50 caliber machine gun and an M240D
7.62mm machine gun, while surveying for targets aboard a
UH-1Y Venom, during Weapons and Tactics Instructor (WTI)
course 2-21, at Chocolate Mountain Aerial Gunnery Range,
California.
The WTI course is a seven-week
training event hosted by MAWTS-1, providing standardized
advanced tactical training and certification of unit
instructor qualifications to support Marine aviation
training and readiness, and assist in developing and
employing aviation weapons and tactics.
