U.S. Marines assigned to 3d Battalion, 12th Marines, 3d Marine Division, fire M777A2 155mm Howitzers during Artillery Relocation Training Program 21.3 (ARTP 21.3) at Yausubetsu Maneuver Area, Hokkaido, Japan.
ARTP is an exercise held to strengthen the defense of Japan and the U.S.-Japan Alliance as the cornerstone of peace and security in the Indo-Pacific region. This iteration of ARTP focused on operating as a small, distributed force, capable of delivering long range precision fires with lethal effects from multiple survivable locations.
