February 12, 2020 - U.S. Marines with 3rd Assault Amphibian Battalion and 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, both with 1st Marine Division and Japan Ground Self-Defense Force soldiers with Amphibious Rapid Deployment Brigade, participate in an amphibious landing assault during Exercise Iron Fist (IF) 2020 on Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California.
Iron Fist enhances opportunities for the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force and the U.S. Marine Corps to share expertise in the use of amphibious vehicles, combined arms and amphibious doctrine.
