A historical look at the Vietnam War era U.S. Navy A-7E Corsair II, a carrier-capable subsonic light attack aircraft, starting
with one on static display at Air Power Park in Hampton, Virginia.
The Corsair bears the markings of Attack Squadron 37 (VA-37), which was established in 1966 during the Vietnam War. The squadron deployed twice in support of operations during the Vietnam War.
The video involves archived footage and images of VA-37 and Corsairs during the Vietnam War along with footage and images of the Hampton Roads Naval Museum's Exhibit "The Ten-Thousand Day War at Sea," which tells the story of the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Additional research for this segment was completed by Captain Alexander "Sandy" Monroe, USNR, (Ret.), a volunteer at the Naval Museum.
