The Vietnam War Memorial located at
Huntington Park in Newport News, Virginia is a two section
memorial.
The larger part of the memorial
consists of a four sided rectangular pillar made of highly
polished gray marble or granite. This pillar has the emblems
of the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force on each of
the four sides. At the bottom on each of the four sides is
the POW/MIA emblem with the inscription..."WE HONOR THOSE
WHO GAVE THEIR BEST".
The second part of the memorial is
a circular cement pillar topped by an eternal flame and a
long rectangular bronze plaque with dedication on the front
of the memorial.
