A bubble room view of flight operations on the aircraft carrier USS Gerald
R. Ford (CVN 78) associated with the Carrier air Wing (CVW) 8.
The Bubble
(Integrated Catapult Control System) Room is in the middle of the flight
deck of an aircraft carrier, where hugely important work is done with the
most exciting view. The capability of these ships to take off and land jets
in one of the smallest rooms on an aircraft carrier is incredible.
While helmet-clad sailors swarm
about the flight deck wearing earplugs to soften the
deafening noise, certain officers have a sweet view of all
the action while sitting in the Bubble. It is used on modern
aircraft carriers in the U.S. Navy.
The Gerald R.
Ford Carrier Strike Group is deployed in the Atlantic Ocean, conducting
training and operations alongside NATO Allies and partners to enhance
integration for future operations and demonstrate the U.S. Navy’s commitment
to a peaceful, stable and conflict-free Atlantic region.
