The inset is the Coast Guard Medal on the uniform pocket of Petty Officer 1st Class Jacob Hylkema.
Hylkema jumped into 18 to 20-foot breaking surf during the rescue of the master of the sailing vessel Grace on the night of October 6, 2016.
