U.S. Marines with 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force set up perimeter security during a fast rope exercise at Auxiliary Airfield 2, Yuma, Ariz., Oct. 2, 2015. This training evolution is apart of Weapons and Tactics Instructor (WTI) 1-16, a seven week training event, hosted by Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron One (MAWTS-1) cadre, which emphasizes operational integration of the six functions of Marine Corps aviation in support of a Marine Air Ground Task Force. MAWTS-1 provides standardized advanced tactical training and certification of unit instructor qualifications to support Marine Aviation Training and Readiness and assists in developing and employing aviation weapons and tactics. Cookie Monster visits families during a Sesame Street/USO Experience for Military Families performance at Kahuna’s Community Ballroom aboard Marine Corps Base Hawaii, Sept. 30, 2015. Families at MCB Hawaii attended two shows on Sept. 30, 2015 and one on Oct. 1, 2015. The half-hour performance, coordinated by the USO, featured characters from the children’s TV show, “Sesame Street”. The show’s purpose is to show support for military children as their family experiences major life changes, such as a permanent change of station or transitioning back to civilian life. Combined Resolve is designed to exercise the U.S. Army’s regionally aligned force to the U.S. European Command area of responsibility with multinational training at all echelons. Approximately 4,600 participants from 13 NATO and European partner nations will participate. The exercise involves around 2,000 U.S. troops and 2,600 NATO and Partner for Peace nations. Combined Resolve is a preplanned exercise that does not fall under Operation Atlantic Resolve. McCain (DDG 56) stand pier-side to welcome their sister ship USS Benfold (DDG 65) as it arrives at Fleet Activities (FLEACT) Yokosuka to join the Forward-Deployed Naval Forces in Japan. ARABIAN GULF (Oct. 20, 2015) - Unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) operators assigned to Commander, Task Group (CTG) 56.1 conduct UUV training operations using a MK 18 MOD 2 UUV. The MK 18 MOD 2 UUV uses side scan sonar to search and discover objects of interest. The Presidential Salute Battery (PSB), 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard), conducts ceremonial training in Arlington National Cemetery, VA, Oct. 27, 2015. The Presidential Salute Battery, founded in 1953, fires cannon salutes in honor of the President of the United States, visiting foreign dignitaries, and official guests of the Unites States. The battery also fires in support of memorial affairs for all military services in Arlington National Cemetery. In addition the battery fires for ceremonies and special events throughout the National Capital Region.
