USCG Cutter Dauntless Service Recognition June 28, 2024 June 21, 2024 - The 210-foot U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Dauntless (WMEC 624) moored to the pier in full-dress during the cutter's heritage recognition ceremony in Pensacola, Florida. Dauntless was recognized for 56 years of service to the nation in the presence of current and former crew members, family, and friends before it was placed in commission, special status. Dauntless operated as a Coast Guard Atlantic Area command asset, based in Portsmouth, Virginia, and was most recently homeported in Pensacola. On March 8, 1973, Dauntless became the first cutter in history to seize one ton of marijuana after its crew boarded the fishing vessel Big L along with arresting the master and crew.
