USGC PSU 312 Returns To Base After GUNEX July 23, 2025 July 17, 2025 - U.S. Coast Guard Port Security Unit 312 (PSU 312) crew members return to base in San Pedro, California after completing their waterside Gunnery Exercise (GUNEX) off of Catalina Island. GUNEX is a training event where Coast Guard personnel practice their skills in handling and using firearms and weapons systems. PSU 312 and members from other PSUs are conducting their two-week Active-Duty Training in the Southern California area, to practice adaptation to security posture in a new location, training in Camp Pendleton, Fort Hunter Liggett, and Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach.
