National Vietnam War Veterans Day on March 29th honors the sacrifices of service members of the U.S. armed forces, who fought in the Vietnam War were many. (Image created by USA Patriotism!)

The Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Act of 2017 was signed into law by 45th U.S. President Donald J. Trump, designating every March 29 as National Vietnam War Veterans Day.

This special day joins six other military-centric annual observances codified in Title 4 of the United States Code §6 (i.e., Armed Forces Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, National Korean War Veterans Armistice Day, Navy Day, Veterans Day).

The sacrifices of service members of the U.S. armed forces, who fought in the Vietnam War, were many.

  • The 58,297 names of brave ones, who made the ultimate sacrifice, honorably listed on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial ... The Wall ... in Washington, D.C. ... along with the valiant service members still considered missing in action.

  • They served in Vietnam under six different presidents. President Truman authorized the first U.S. advisors to serve with the French, and President Ford was in office at the conclusion.

  • Their average age was 23 years old. Many tens of thousands were disabled. Approximately 7,500 women served in Vietnam. Most of them were nurses, and 8 were killed in theater.

Vietnam War Veterans

The "Vietnam War Veterans" video and the associated narration of my poem ... pay tribute to those of who valiantly served in Vietnam with many making the ultimate sacrifice or returning wounded for life ... all beyond self for country's sake ... regardless of the political disrespectful mindset that kept them from achieving the victory they so deserved ... as the greatest generation before them did in World Wary II and the Korean War!
