USCG Air Station Barbers Point Conducts VST December 14, 2025
December 8, 2025 - U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer 1st Class Paul Wiedenhoeft, an aviation survival technician assigned to Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point in Kapolei, Hawaii, being lowered on the side of a cliff from a Coast Guard MH-65 Dolphin helicopter during vertical surface training (VST) in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. During vertical surface operations the aviation survival technician maintains contact with the surface using their legs to stabilize themselves to avoid pendulum motion.
